To ensure a safe and professional working environment in our laboratories, all employees must be familiar with the applicable rules and guidelines. Below you will find a series of documents that must be read and understood before beginning any laboratory work.
These documents cover essential topics such as safety procedures, proper handling of chemicals and biological materials, and instructions for using equipment and protective gear. They are designed to protect both you and your colleagues, and to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with current legislation and internal standards.

All work with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) must be reported to the Danish Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet/AT). The notification consists of:

Each research group must have a Chemical Safety Officer, who is responsible for overseeing the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemical waste and hazardous substances within the research group. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, supports risk assessments, and provides guidance to staff on best practices for working with toxic materials. If a group leader does not appoint a Chemical Safety Officer, the responsibility remains with the group leader.
The Chemical Safety Officer has access to the chemical waste room in their building.
Access to the chemical waste rooms is only given after receiving instructions on safe handling procedures.
Hande Login / Henriette Gram Johansen are responsible for giving instructions for the chemical waste room (1115-035K) in the Skou Building.
Britta Boserup Thestrup is responsible for giving instructions for the chemical waste room (1249-210) in the Bartholin Building.

Lab classifications are approved and granted by the Danish Working Environment Authority and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. Within the Department of Biomedicine, we have four laboratory IDs that apply across the entire department.
